JADE STONE

"I remember living in a world of dreams growing up - full of imagination, as if something extraordinary was going to happen and I wanted to be able to capture it..."

Life is fleeting - unless you capture it

I have always loved photography ever since I was child. I remember when I was away in Austria for Christmas aged 6. It was my first time being away for the holidays and I was petrified Santa was'nt going to know where we had gone. We bought a sign that said "Santa please stop here" to put outside the hotel door to  make sure ahha.
To my shock Santa was in the front lobby of the hotel giving out toys. He gifted me a Spice Girls polaroid camera, I was obsessed. Ever since then I always had a camera. I used to bring kodak cameras to school to capture events and school trips. I then bought a canon powershot and would bring them on all my travels and nights out with friends. They used to call me the papparazzi.
Aged 24 I just finished my bachelor degree at University College Dublin and didnt know where I was going.  I then last minute got the oppurtunity to go on a Irish reality TV show called "Exiles Vancouver".  It followed 6 young people emmigrate from Ireland to Vancouver to follow their dreams. I remember in the casting they asked me what my dream was and I said "I have always dreamed of being a photographer"... but it was just a dream I did'nt think it was actually going to be a reality.  I was told  "the cast are leaving in a week do you want to come?" So I packed my bags and left for Vancouver, Canada.
From there I went through a wild ride of settling into a new country, living with people I didnt know, starting from scratch how to use a camera all while being filmed. I watched numerous youtube videos and got thrown into difficult situations where I learned ALOT.
From 2014 I photographed events, behind the scenes, commercials and portraits. In 2016 I photographed my first wedding and have resided  at the Simply Sweet Wedding Photography team since. I took a few years away from photography through surviving breast cancer but after coming out the other side I am ready for what magic life has next.

I'll end with a picture of my dad, my hero. I lost him to cancer a few years ago but after that life experience and going through it myself it has thought me a crazy amount of gratitude for every day and to live life to the fullest.
